The holidays are almost upon us and I am thinking about getting gifts for my foodies a bit earlier this year, 2020 has been wild to say the least so I want to make sure I get the items I want and get them on time. I am a foodie and a very picky one when it comes to tools, I don’t like fad gadgets or things that really just end up taking up space when the novelty wears off. So, I have put together some quality items that any foodie would love to receive and can use for a life time. (This post contains affiliate links)
Epicurean Non-Slip Series Cutting Board
This is by far my favorite cutting board. They are light weight, feel great when cutting on them and they look great. They are also dishwasher safe and if you hand wash you can hang them to dry. I have seen them used in commercial kitchens and they are very durable.
Silpat Half Size 11.6 x 16.5 Inch Nonstick Baking Mat
These are the best baking mats hands down! Nothing sticks to them. You can use them for lining a pan when roasting vegetables or when making hard candy. They are also easy to clean and replace single use items like parchment paper.
Essential Gourmet Finishing Sea Salt Collection
I love to cook with these they add a little bit of excitement to every dish, even if I have cooked it a hundred times. Fleur de sel is my favorite and the smoked salt is so fun to play with.
Shun Classic 8 Inch Hollow Ground Chef’s Knife Premium
Never ever would I have guessed how much I would love this knife until I used one. I was always a classic French made knife user, never wanted to try anything different. But after working where they had Shun’s available to use I was hooked. They are so sharp and just a joy to use. There is not a better knife for cutting vegetables ,which is what I end up cutting the most of. Your foodie will love it.
Singkasa Porcelain Grater Plate for Ginger, Garlic and Onion
Ginger is a pain to work with and I must admit that I sometimes use dry ginger just so I don’t have to mess with it. But this grater makes it easy. If your foodie is a fan of international cuisine this is the perfect gift!
KitchenAid Artisan Tilt-Head Stand Mixer
This truly is the best mixer on the market. I have been using them at work and at home for years. Over the years I have noticed the advantages and disadvantages of certain design features on different models. The model I am recommending here has the best of all the features I have encountered over the years, it is the mid-priced model that is powerful but doesn’t go overboard with features and power that most people won’t find useful. To begin, the mixing “head” lifts up, instead of the bowl moving. At first thought you might say “hey I like that feature” but over time the bowl will be harder and harder to move and the mechanism harder to maintain. Next, the bowl on this model is polished stainless steal instead of brushed stainless which is very easy to clean and it is not glass which I find heavy and just unnecessarily fragile. Also, this bowl has a handle that allows you to easily attach and un-attach it to the stand, as well as use when handling and cleaning the bowl. Not the most powerful of all the mixer models but enough power to do just about any job the mixer is good at doing. If you want to grind meat, buy a grinder, these mixers can grind meat, but if you want the job done right buy a grinder (Trust me working with a mixer is very frustrating). Overall, this mixer would make the any foodie joyed.
KitchenAid Pasta Roller & cutter attachment set
Fresh home-made pasta is a thing of beauty. Having the attachment for the mixer is even better! This set rolls the pasta flat and also cuts it into either spaghetti or linguini. Great quality and easy to use.
Chef’n FreshForce Citrus Juicer
I chose this particular brand/model because of the quality of the materials used. The others, more or less expensive, work just the same, but this one will work and look good for a long time. It won’t chip or break as the lesser quality juicers tend to as they age.
Kuhn Rikon Adjustable Ratchet Grinder
One of my favorite items in my kitchen. I have one for salt and one for pepper. So much easier them twisting to grind, just pull the handle back and forth. Very easy to fill, just open the shute on the side and pour in the salt or pepper. Easy and they look good, I have red to go with my mixer.
Easy to Clean Deep Fryer
I know the trend is away from fried foods and such but come on, I still like a good home-made egg roll or doughnut every now and then. So when I do I love the features on this fryer that make it easy to clean.
Euro Cuisine Yogurt Maker
This is a well designed easy to use yogurt maker. I love the super easy instructions and the system for keeping track of when the yogurt was made. I also like that you are making individual portions with their own lids.
